PinPointer
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
In PinPointer your goal is to find yourself! Literally, on the map. You find yourself on the Demo Map island floating in the sky and need to figure out your exact position. You can look around and move around, you can explore. Just remember that you need to be precise.
Don't stress out if you are lost or miss by some meters. But if you want some challenge, your time, steps taken, and distance from the exact position are all tracked. Hit the point within 12 meters and you get 200 points. Hit 0 meters within 5 seconds with 0 steps and you get the sense of accomplishment.
This is just a demo! I've been working on the gameplay basics and the map design for a couple of weeks. It's far from a full game, and I have a lot of ideas for future maps and systems that can enhance your experience. But I want to make sure I'm on the right track and that there is interest for this type of game. So please share your feedback! You can even join our Discord server https://discord.gg/S657Y9KPF9
Even though it's a demo, I hope even this map can give you an hour of enjoyment. And if you feel like this an interesting idea, please consider donating for its future development.

This looks fantastic. As another member of the OSINT community, this would only get better if you continued to develop landscapes that had signatures identical to the real world (road markings, architecture style, etc).
It would be such a fun tool whilst also being a great training resource.
Interesting concept. I assume you are familiar with GeoGuessr.
The OSINT community like playing this sort of game, so you may get some good nerdy feedback.
It is worth watching the regular YT live streams for "OSINT Curious" where they play Geoguessr. You should pick up some useful tips for the sorts of details people need to look for.
Oh yes, I am familiar with it indeed. Been playing it back in the day, and recently got my friends and SO into it and has been playing it daily for a couple of months now.
That was my main inspiration behind trying to make it into a videogame. I have a pretty good insight into what works and what frustrates about using StreetViews for your game locations, and I have a few ideas on how to make it into a more enjoyable experience, and how to enhance it on top of that. Oh, and I don’t plan on limiting myself with only real-world locations.
I’m aiming to be releasing content updates every few weeks, so we’ll see how it goes.
Thanks for the tip!
